The Idol is an award-winning, rapidly growing technology company and partner partner with household brands such as Go.Compare, ComparetheMarket and Confused.com. 

We are keeping an open mind in regard to location, however the successful candidates should expect frequent travel to The Idol's head office based on the edge of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria.

Job Description

Theidol.com is searching for an experienced senior individual to join our leadership team as Commercial and Proposition Director to own, develop and execute the strategy for our SaaS insurance platform Asanto.

Asanto provides insurance companies with an innovative no-code platform for product pricing, policy management, servicing and customer engagement which has users in both general insurance and protection verticals. This new role underpins our ambitious plans to significantly grow the number of products, markets and customers to which the solution is deployed.

As the owner of Asanto, you will report to the Managing Director of The Idol and shape the future of our SaaS insurance platform. This will involve developing and executing the strategy, driving revenue growth, owning the product offering and P&L as well as ensuring customer satisfaction and the success of our platform. The position sits on our Board as a statutory company director.

Responsibilities: 

Vision and strategy:

  • Define, communicate and own the value proposition, positioning and strategy to deliver success, and ensure it aligns to the company’s overall goals.
  • Work as a member of The Idol leadership team and board to define the vision and long-term strategy for the product.
  • Monitor and analyse the performance, feedback, market trends and competitive landscape for Asanto and the SaaS industry, and use this to inform future strategy and drive innovation.

Strategy implementation:

  • Develop and manage the annual budget, 5 year plans and forecasts for the commercial proposition, and manage the operating costs.
  • Develop and own key metrics and outcomes, and report on these within the company and to the board.
  • With the Product Owners and delivery teams, create a comprehensive roadmap and provider leadership to ensure this is delivered to time and cost. 

Product Development:

  • Led the product management teams, deliver innovative and competitive solutions, and drive value for the company.
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to customer satisfaction, ensuring it meets the needs of customers in the target market.

Business development:

  • Oversee the development and delivery of the distribution strategy to ensure strategic targets are met, and further opportunities to maximise new business are taken.
  • Consider the needs and objectives of all our customers, including vulnerable customers, to ensure they receive good outcomes.

Team leadership:

  • Be responsibility for 5 FTE direct reports and c. 8 FTE indirect.
  • Manage employees, and the development of the teams, whilst fostering an agile, collaborative, and innovative culture.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience and qualifications

  • Experience in a senior leadership role involving strategic and commercial forecasting and decision making.
  • Experience of full ownership of a technology product from design, development to commercialisation with proven track record in product development at a leadership level, and agile development methodologies.
  • Extensive experience in the SaaS industry, ideally within insurance or financial services with a background in commercial strategies for SaaS products.
  • Must meet the criteria to be a statutory company director.
