Job Description

Working as part of a dedicated external communications function in LGC, as Communications Manager, you will support external communications activities across the LGC portfolio. While over time the specific outward-facing themes and strategy may extend, the role will focus on delivering the strategic approach aligned to LGC's priorities and media relations strategy to promote the business and overall Group proposition in the external market.  You will work with senior internal and external stakeholders, alongside the wider Corporate Affairs team to create strategic messages and publicise them through external media channels.  

At this level, you will work with a high degree of autonomy, but also benefit from working closely with a high performing fast paced, high impact team.  Ideally, you will have experience of working in Financial Services and even better if you have experience of and in any of the following sectors: Real estate (specialist commercial and residential), Venture Capital, GP Investing and Clean energy.  

Qualifications

As an experienced communications professional you will need:

  • Expertise in corporate communication; able to support the development of communication activities for the business.
  • Knowledge of communication approaches, tools and methods, able to lead determination, development and deployment of communication initiatives for LGC.
  • Excellent writing skills - you will be required to draft content for press announcements, speeches, thought leadership and blogs
  • Ability to transfer knowledge & know how to the marketing and other communication professionals across the Group to improve the technical ability of the communication team.
  • A depth of product & market knowledge, good knowledge of customer & stakeholder base, excellent knowledge of trade press, media and PR stakeholders.
  • The ability to keep abreast of market developments & market cycles
  • Experience in any / all of the following sectors: GP Investing, Residential and Commercial Real Estate, Clean Energy, VC, Infrastructure

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  1. Opportunity to support LGC Comms leads on the approach, management, and relationship with a defined corporate communication channel (e.g., trade press, media). Deliver the strategies and plans that are in place to manage external perception and value of the brand
  2. Effectively monitor and measure media engagement to inform and guide media activity.   Implement metrics models to measure and report on effectiveness of external communications activities. 
  3. Communication Campaigns – Work with LGC (and wider Group) Communications & Marketing Team to create, develop & implement content for corporate communication promotions & campaigns. Ensure effective deployment of corporate communication activities to ensure accurate & timely exposure of organisational position, brand, values & offerings to the market.
  4. Relationship Management – Build credible internal relations
  5. Corporate Communication Content – Ensure generation of copy, either internally or by external stakeholders is placed to maintain the image of the business, its ethics and values.
  6. Crisis Management and enquiry Response – Support Comms LGC comms leads in crisis management and issue escalation plan and where required implemented appropriately.  
  7. Work with junior colleagues, looking for opportunities to support their training and development.
  8. Working with external stakeholders – Build and maintain relationships with LGC partner businesses.
  9. Governance & Compliance – Ensure implementation & adherence to compliance, governance & risk policies & frameworks such that actions are made consistent with business ethics, values, and stakeholder requirements at defined levels of risk.
