We're recruiting 2 positions, flexible on your base location in England/Wales with hybrid working.
You’ll join the National Grid’s Control, Optel & Cyber Team who are responsible for the implementation of highly technical operational technology systems for National Grid Electricity Transmission. We make happen the solutions that will enable a radically different Energy system and electricity network to meet the challenges of the future.
Your key outputs are to lead on the delivery of the specification, design, implementation and lifetime management of transmission network operational technology assets and the associated cyber security. Cultivate effective communication skills, including the ability to engage with multi-disciplined teams and audiences. Building and maintaining relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders.
As an Electricity Control System Transmission Engineer, you will understand HV Substation Control Systems, communication protocols such as IEC61850 and IEC60870-5-101/104 and the cyber security requirements associated with such systems. You will have a strong Network understanding, including experience working in situations with a significant number of sites communicating with a master station. Interoperability and control will be a familiar environment, along with the working knowledge of how to implement such arrangements. There is an expectation that you will have the ability to apply cyber hardening technics and be familiar with NIS requirements.
You’ll hold a numerate degree or demonstrable experience in a relevant engineering project environment. A demonstrable ability to provide design assurance on a risk-based approach and will be able to provide technical support and work in partnership with Electricity Transmission Type Registration, Global Procurement and Innovation teams. You will also have a strong understanding of utility operational technology application procedures and a working knowledge of their test, design assurance, commissioning process and lifetime support.
